Welcome, Participants

Good morning, Participants. The time is now 7:30 AM.

[Where were you before this? Doesn’t matter, you’re here now, in an unfamiliar bed, surrounded by unfamiliar people, with a slightly-too-cheerful automated voiced chiming over a PA system to wake you up. Your pockets are empty, save for an unfamiliar smartphone type of device that comes alive under your touch, displaying, among other things, a map, a series of profiles, and a list of rules.]

It is understood that you may have questions; please be patient, and gather back in the Common Room in one hour. The Assistant will be present at this time to answer your questions. In the meantime, please feel free to explore the Facility at your leisure.

[The doors to the dorm areas are freely open from the inside, though you’ll find that it takes your electronic id to regain entry once you’ve left. Otherwise, it’s as the voice says, and you’ve got an hour to explore your new surroundings and get to know your fellow kidnappees.]

[Welcome to the Facility.]

That sounds like a lot of work.

[Well that's vastly different than what Claw was trying to accomplish.. so maybe this is just some other crazy evil organization. Does that make him feel better?

Ehhh....]

...can I have my ESP back?

It is, but I'm sure it'll be worth it!

[This is going to help SO MANY PEOPLE probably.]

And- no, sorry. Not until the study has concluded.

Why? Wouldn't it help my team better if I had them?
in4apounding: (it's simple really)

[personal profile] in4apounding 2018-11-26 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
It would! But it would also be unfair to the other team, then. And then THEY might have something that was unfairly powerful against your ESP, see?

[he doubts it but he's too humble to admit that but.............. he Doubt it]

I guess I wouldn't want to cheat.

[He does look disappointed, though. He's extremely useless without his powers and he just wants to go home so the odds of him figuring out how to escape are............... Slim.]

...um, what about the part about "termination"? Is it about kicking people off the team?
in4apounding: (inspect our navels)

You definitely don't want to cheat.

[She is suddenly and deadly serious.]

The Researcher REALLY DOESN'T LIKE cheating.

[It's in the profiles and everything.]

And- sort of? We know this situation might be stressful for some people, and if anyone tried- hurting someone else, we don't want to keep everyone in a closed space with that person. It's a little vaguely worded, I know.

[...sweat]

Why would anyone try to hurt someone else? We all have to work together, right?
in4apounding: (it's simple really)

[personal profile] in4apounding 2018-11-26 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly!

[See, he gets it, MICHAEL.]

I can't imagine anyone here would do anything that extreme, but the Researcher is very cautious, so he wanted a failsafe just in case.

So... if someone hurts someone else, then they'll get "terminated" for our safety?
in4apounding: (um)

[personal profile] in4apounding 2018-11-27 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
Soooort of? More like- if someone terminated someone else, it would end the study for everyone else's safety. I know it's a little strangely worded.

But I'm sure no one here would do anything like that!
