[A week has gone and past, as has the first of your number. The Researcher revealing himself, more or less, by punishing Patches, the Trusty, for pushing an unclear boundary.]

[And yet, routine seems to have returned. The Researcher makes morning and evening announcements as if nothing has happened. Meals are served in the dining hall. The copies of Oregon Trail in the computer lab now have a text-only mode for some reason? Penny has not been seen since Friday, and attempts to access the Security Room have been fruitless.]

[But overall, life in the Facility has remained unchanged. But the atmosphere is getting tenser - sooner or later something is going to break.]

[First of all, is the door soundproof? Is there any way to hear what might be on the other side?]

[Yes and no? The door doesn't appear to be soundproofed per se; if he listens closely and strains enough he can hear a faint electronic hum and the occasional automatic chirp of a computer doing something.]

[But beyond that, there doesn't appear to be anything TO hear at the moment.]

[However, as he listens at the door, an overhead speaker crackles to life.]

The Assistant is currently indisposed, Turncoat. Do you require anything immediately.

[Oh, Spy does not like that. He looks up at the speakers, then looks around briefly for whatever cameras must be in the hallway.]

[You at least learned that whatever's going on between Penny and the Researcher is either not happening in the security office itself, or is very quiet?]
