[A week has gone and past, as has the first of your number. The Researcher revealing himself, more or less, by punishing Patches, the Trusty, for pushing an unclear boundary.]

[And yet, routine seems to have returned. The Researcher makes morning and evening announcements as if nothing has happened. Meals are served in the dining hall. The copies of Oregon Trail in the computer lab now have a text-only mode for some reason? Penny has not been seen since Friday, and attempts to access the Security Room have been fruitless.]

[But overall, life in the Facility has remained unchanged. But the atmosphere is getting tenser - sooner or later something is going to break.]

[Penny gives a cheerful wave as Spy approaches, at least. She's happy to answer any questions about the challenge, which this obviously is.]

...What do you mean?

Your disappearance following the death of "Patches". Do you not remember...?

... Ah. I see.

[Spy debates to himself whether or not he should tell her. Honestly, there's a good chance that if he does, the Researcher will just wipe her mind again.]

My apologies, Miss. I'm afraid I was mistaken.

But, out of curiosity, what were you doing before coming here to propose this challenge?

Well, immediately before this I was getting everything together, but- just doing my normal duties?

[She thinks a little bit, trying to pick out anything unusual.]

Checking over the camera feeds, making sure there weren't any- you know, hazards or anything- I met with Mer- MISS Meredith in the greenhouse, and a few other people, I- think I was talking to the Researcher about something-?

[She trails off for a second, brow slightly furled-]

...hm. Must not have been that important, I guess? But- um, nothing unusual. Why do you ask?

[boxtrot]

I see. What sort of hazards are you looking into, if I may ask?

And were you talking to The Researcher before or after your conversation with Miss Meredith?

[He'll have to check with Meredith herself to see when she was at the greenhouse with Penny, but he gets the feeling that it happened before Patches' death.]

Afterwards? I'm not sure by how much, at least an hour or so.

[It's probably fine.]

And just- like if something electronic were to come loose somehow, or some of the kitchen equipment was left running. Or- if someone accidentally left something out where one of you might slip on it, that sort of thing. There hasn't been any in the time you've all been here, if that's what you're concerned about.

Hm. Yes, I understand.

Are you sure there's nothing you remember about your discussion with the Researcher?

I think-

[She looks Intense, for a second, like she's about to reset again, the way she did under Michael's questioning on day one.]

[But she just shakes her head and shrugs.]

No, sorry. It's a little odd, I'll have to ask him about it later in case it was important. Thank you for your concern, though, that's very sweet!

[boxtrot]

No, no, I'm sure you're right that it's not important. No need to bother him unnecessarily- I'm sure that if it was important, you would've remembered by now.

[The last statement gives him pause. "Sweet" is not a word usually used to describe him, after all.

Before he can respond, though, a very large crocodile shows up and drags him away to go cook some fucking Food]

...maybe. That makes sense, though, and if it were anything critical he would've reminded me, he's usually very insistent-

[And- oh, now K. Rool is happening. Penny gives another small wave as Spy is dragged off.]
