[Where were you before this? Doesn’t matter, you’re here now, in an unfamiliar bed, surrounded by unfamiliar people, with a slightly-too-cheerful automated voiced chiming over a PA system to wake you up. Your pockets are empty, save for an unfamiliar smartphone type of device that comes alive under your touch, displaying, among other things, a map, a series of profiles, and a list of rules.]

It is understood that you may have questions; please be patient, and gather back in the Common Room in one hour. The Assistant will be present at this time to answer your questions. In the meantime, please feel free to explore the Facility at your leisure.

[The doors to the dorm areas are freely open from the inside, though you’ll find that it takes your electronic id to regain entry once you’ve left. Otherwise, it’s as the voice says, and you’ve got an hour to explore your new surroundings and get to know your fellow kidnappees.]

[ She stretches, looking around Dorm A2 casually. ]

You'll have Nadine after you for this, you know! ... With any luck, at least.

[ She then grabs her phone and heads out into the common room, flipping through the profiles. She looks... incredibly calm and collected, considering the circumstances. ]

Alright, let's see what other poor saps are stuck here... or me. A.P.U.H.A.? Ought to put that on a business card.

[ Shinso's eyes laid upon the other as she spoke - everything about this situation was so abnormal other than the known idea that he'd just been kidnapped. ]

[ Chloe yawns, briefly. ]

She's very good at the whole... storming places thing.

[ He observed her curiously, before his attention deferred elsewhere as he just manages to fish out the strange device on his person, and beginning to already scroll through the maps efficiently. ]

Even heavily fortified ones?

[ He might be thinking this Nadine could be a Hero of some sort. He immediately scrolls through the rules first because of course he does. ]

...It looks like we were brought here to participate in some type of 'experiment'.

[ She sighs deeply, scrolling through the phone as well. ]

If she makes it before the other Heroes arrive or we break out, you won't be the only one.

[ Vaguely making light of a situation that quite frankly has him unsettled more than he's letting on, and so now he's making some banter. ]

It's about as an exciting prospect as I'd ever imagined.

[ This is A Lot of people they're kidnapping judging from the profiles listed on the device and he figures that the Pro-Heroes and law enforcement are on the case. Plus, he has a Quirk and someone else here does too, which they can use to their advantage (or so he thinks.) ]

[ She chuckles. Banter is good, she knows how to do banter. ]

Do you suppose there's a lever somewhere we have to pull for food?

If there is one, it'd be in the Dining Hall.

[ He also had the chance to look at the map briefly. ]

Though there's a chance that they'll have someone serving food instead of us having to do much of anything.

[ Shinso has imagined it to be kind of similar to a prison, and he might be expecting some henchmen around. ]

[Shigeo happened to overhear her from his beanbag chair in the common room, and he looks up curiously and speaks up with a soft tone to his voice.]

"Acquirer of Previously Undiscovered Historical Artifacts." [ from the way she reads it out, it's clear it's not a term she uses often, if at all ] Clever way of dancing around the point, I suppose.

[Shigeo looks a little bit awkward, and offers Chloe a small smile.]

It means treasure hunter. More or less. But my career path's been a little muddy lately.

[The teen nods a little, glad that that's been cleared up.]

My master says when the job's going slow that you have to make your own work... so maybe you just need to find somewhere dryer to look for treasure.

You can't get to the best treasure without getting wet and dirty and probably shot at, these days. All the easy ones are taken.

You're never the only one out looking for a lost civilization, turns out. But if you're one of the good guys, you're usually not nearly as well-armed as your competition. Grain of truth to those Indiana Jones films.

That sounds really dangerous... why can't everyone just share the treasure instead?

Everyone gets very greedy very fast when it comes to vast riches, unfortunately. Though that is a nice thought.

But... if you all shared, wouldn't you all be rich? And then no one would have to get shot at..

Trust me, I'm never the one with the darkest intentions for the treasure on these chases.

[ Helena, who is curled up at the back of one of those comfy chairs and 100% has her boots on the seat, glances up from her own smartphone and looks her over. ]

They shouldn't use that language. There are too many children here for that.

[ Chloe chuckles a little. ]

I guess not. Wouldn't know, though, I had a wide range of age-inappropriate words by the time I was their age.

[ She frowns. ]

Quote's not exactly age-friendly either, without knowing that I could well have in fact been talking about an ancient Tibetan ritual dagger at the time.

I knew these also, [ she acknowledges. To be fair, most of them were in Ukrainian, and the nuns would do far worse than washing one's mouth out with soap when they caught someone swearing aloud. By the time she learned English she was under the tutelage of someone even more strict, and more holy. ]
