[Where were you before this? Doesn’t matter, you’re here now, in an unfamiliar bed, surrounded by unfamiliar people, with a slightly-too-cheerful automated voiced chiming over a PA system to wake you up. Your pockets are empty, save for an unfamiliar smartphone type of device that comes alive under your touch, displaying, among other things, a map, a series of profiles, and a list of rules.]

It is understood that you may have questions; please be patient, and gather back in the Common Room in one hour. The Assistant will be present at this time to answer your questions. In the meantime, please feel free to explore the Facility at your leisure.

[The doors to the dorm areas are freely open from the inside, though you’ll find that it takes your electronic id to regain entry once you’ve left. Otherwise, it’s as the voice says, and you’ve got an hour to explore your new surroundings and get to know your fellow kidnappees.]

[Profile screwing notwithstanding, at least in Izuku's case the knowledge of having a demon walking around with an alligator man isn't the wildest thing he's come across. Not even close. Which might come as a surprise since he certainly looks like a proper candidate for freaking out...when, instead, he just takes Michael's hand in kind and smiles back at him, if just a touch awkwardly.] Midoriya Izuku. I think I saw you in the dorm room, earlier...? But I left before we got a chance to meet.

Don't worry about it! I was trying to find my friend Janet, so I wouldn't have stopped to meet you anyway.

[it sounds rude but he smiles while he says it, so]

Are you really fifteen? I would have guessed younger. [Probably another good reason he didn't talk to you before reading the profiles.]

[I MEAN THAT'S...VALID AT LEAST he was looking for his classmates and anyone else he might have known first and foremost himself, anyway, so he can relate. To his question though, Izuku nods.] Yeah...though I can understand why you might think that. [He's a small, lanky boy with freckles and hair bigger than his head, he looks closer to 12 than he does 15.] I'm actually in my first year of highschool right now.

[No please talk about torture that's entirely appropriate!! Plus you know you want to.] It's...it literally just means "Boy". So...I don't really know why that's my title, either. [What he doesn't say, though, is that the title makes him viscerally uncomfortable in a way he doesn't want to explain. Mostly because the only one who calls him that is All Might. Best thing to do, though, is to just roll with it.] I guess I'm "The Boy" from now on, ahah.

[Wait no-] M-midoriya is fine, really! Or Izuku, whichever... [Why does he get the feeling that no matter what he says, in Michael's mind he's definitely The Boy now.]

So! A lot of us seem to have something that would make people want to kidnap us. But you're really just a regular student...?

[mightdoriya]

Me? No, I'm...I'm from a high school for training heroes. [Izuku clenches his fist, looking down at it for a moment.] Most people from my world are born with abilities we call Quirks. They're like super powers...mine gives me enhanced strength. [He doesn't say aloud that he can't actually reach his Quirk in this place for some reason, but he figures if Michael is supposed to be a demon, he knows that much by now already.]

What, seriously? Why are so many of you just from comic books?

[Okay, he's making some leaps regarding Electro, but come on the guy's name is "Electro" and he fights "Spider-man"]

Can you lift me? Don't do it, but can you?

[oh my god] L-lift? I mean, I...I probably...could? But I don't think I can right now... [Which, he said not to anyway, so it's fine.]

What, is something off with your powers too?

[mightdoriya]

It's more like...they're just. Off. [It's like Aizawa is using his Quirk on him, or perhaps a villain similar who can take Quirks away, which....is terrifying, given the only other villain he knows that can do this.] Someone earlier, they...jumped me? They were upset and wanted answers, and I tried to use my Quirk to get away at first...but I couldn't. [He realizes a touch too late that this is probably the worst thing he could tell someone, but it's not like everyone here has a Quirk, he's realizing. So...at the very least he's not outmatched entirely. He's learned to think quick on his feet without a Quirk for a while now, which he hopes will work in his favor if things go badly.]

Huh.

[Michael nods thoughtfully. And - well, fair's fair...]

My powers aren't working either, but that's typical when I'm on Earth. The system doesn't want immortals screwing around with humanity. Figured it was just that.

[mightdoriya]

[Huh...demon powers must work differently than the powers Izuku is used to, then.] I see. It shouldn't be that way in my case, at least. The only thing I can think of is someone with a Quirk that can cancel out other Quirks has used it on me.

Well, not necessarily. We're clearly dealing with a few parallel dimensions here. Maybe you just aren't compatible with this one?

[mightdoriya]

Parallel dimension? [That...isn't something he'd actually considered, yet.] Maybe that's it. But if that's the case, then...I understand what's happened even less now. [He wishes All Might were here. At least he'd be able to give him some advice. But he doesn't have that luxury right now.]

[eudaimonikos]

No superheros on my version of Earth.

[So obviously, right?]

Not saying I understand it either. Other universes are practically the only place I don't have enemies! [He grins but is it really a joke?] And it doesn't seem very random, if both Janet and I got grabbed.

No, you're right...one of my classmates is here with me. Well...one of the others from my school, anyway. I haven't seen anyone else though. [He's still struck by the apparent randomness of the choice, but given the whole aspect of not remembering...it's scary, Shinso being here at all.]

Oh, yeah? Maybe two's the most from any one place.

[He goes to flip through the profiles again, scanning them far quicker than really seems possible to read.]

We'd have a real problem if they brought anyone else from my world, tell you that...

Is everyone from your world a demon? [You know, not including the people on earth that are clearly humans. He doesn't want to assume Janet is, but...from her profile it doesn't sound like she's all human either.]

Well, no. There's demons, angels...Janets.

[She's aaaaaaall Janet, baby]

Whatever the eternal all-knowing Judge is - I don't think she's classed as demon or angel. Sort of a neutral being.

[Demons, angels, Janets, and all-knowing Judges sound like a mixture that they definitely wouldn't have wanted to bring here, that's for sure. And they've already got two of those.] Maybe that's why they decided two only. Just in case they brought just people from your world and realized they couldn't actually handle it.

Could be. Any other demon would put an end to this pretty quick. Humans are very easy to kill even without special powers.

[That sure is a thing to casually state.]

[Oh trust him, he knows....boy if he doesn't know that pretty intimately. Still! He will be respectfully wary of Michael, no matter how chill he seems to be because Yikes.] What if you could use your abilities here, though? Could you stop this?
