[So, with introductions made, you're all left to your own devices for the time being. Explore, make friends, try not to go insane in your new surroundings. Maybe organize a game of that Trailseeker thing? Your time is your own.]

[You are woken every day at 7:30 AM by the same robotic voice that woke you on day one. At 11pm each night, a similar message plays reminding everyone about the start of quiet hours and dimming the lights.]

[If you want to talk to Penny, she can be found in the Security Office if she's not anywhere else in the Facility. Office hours appear to be whenever.]

[Meredith's been busy all week, discovering all kinds of interesting things! All these nonfiction books and documentaries might not be other people's idea of a good time, but she hasn't seen most of them before, and that makes them interesting to her. Especially since there's a whole bunch of regular history and science she just? Doesn't know?

For something more interesting to normal people, she spends the morning in the media room finishing up a Bill Nye the Science Guy marathon.

Later in the day she makes her way to the greenhouse. She meets Penny here, but that's not going to stop her from investigating on her own here.

In what may be a surprise, she also shows up in the dining hall for both lunch and dinner. At lunch the quotes around "chicken" have her curious, and she tries them to see if she can identify them. Similarly, she turns up for dinner because she wants to know what a pierogi is. In both cases, she seems to enjoy the food quite a lot for a robot who theoretically shouldn't have to eat.]

Greenhouse

[This place is pretty big, and there's a lot of ground to cover. Fortunately, it's pretty colorful and full of unique things to look at while you're searching, and everything is helpfully labeled. A number of the plants are enthusiastically if unobtrusively mentioned to be poisonous, with a variety of nasty effects, mixed in seamlessly among the harmless or even beneficial flora.]

[Which makes the bright red warning signs on a heavily fenced-off enclosure stand out even more than it would normally.]

[Yep, that definitely stands out. Meredith tells herself to carefully inspect every one of those flowers first, but... the signs. They beckon. They say "TYPE: BLUE, COME AND READ US, AND THEN SEE WHAT'S IN THIS ENCLOSURE."

No, actually they probably don't. What do they say?]

Silverpoint poison one of if not the deadliest toxins on the planet. It possesses no beneficial qualities and its only uses are killing people to death and acting as a chemical reagent in very dark magical rituals.

[And there is indeed a heavy metal fence, incredibly tall even for the greenhouse, surrounding a second, interior fence at a short disance, surrounding a tangled mass of viney shrub covered in large, silvery thorns.]

[...hm. Stuck in "nope definitely a normal human" mode, Meredith isn't entirely sure whether she's vulnerable to toxins right now. Touching the evil plant seems like a bad idea.

Of course, nothing's so poisonous you can't even look at it. She'll peer closely, take some high-res screenshots for her reference. There wouldn't happen to be anything else interesting to spot within the barrier, would there?]

[The vines themselves are very pretty!]

[But if she's looking closely, she might spot a small patch of disturbed earth between the two fences.]

[Hm! Well, there's a perfectly good inner fence, so it's fine. Is there a gate in the outer fence or is she gonna have to climb?]

[Well, she could climb if she really wanted, but the dirt looks close enough to reach if she wants to try slipping her arm through the fence.]

[Hm... yeah she's gonna climb over the fence. She didn't get to be a magical girl by only doing necessary things. Actually she's been a magical girl for her entire existence but shhhhh.

What do we got here? A hole, or more like a place where something's been buried?]

[Climbing the fence is pretty difficult. It's almost less of a fence and more of a barrier that goes all the way to the ceiling, but there's some gaps at the top.]

[And this looks to be less of a hole and more dirt scooped over a hole, much like something's been buried, yes.]

[Dig, y/n?]

[Maybe it's difficult for a normal person, but for Meredith it's... oof, actually pretty tough, this is easier when she's super powerful. She won't let that stop her, though.

yyyyy of course she will dig. With, uh, her hands. She probably should have brought a shovel with her or something.]

[That's fine, it's not actually that deep. Whoever did this probably did so by just reaching through the fence, so they weren't able to dig much of a hole.]

[As Meredith uncovers it, it looks to be a few inches deep and around, easy enough to make one-handed.]

[And it doesn't take long before something shiny starts showing through the dirt.]

[OH MY GOD A SHINY ROCK]

[Which- actually is what this is, more or less? A faceted, dark crystal, small enough to fit in the palm of Meredith's hand, currently caked in a bit of dirt.]

[Well, the crystal itself has one kind of weird thing about it.]

[A small, perfectly rectangular depression carved into one side, just about big enough for the average person's thumb.]

[That seems like a really great place to put her thumb, so that's exactly what she's going to do.]

[There's no physical give or anything as Meredith presses, but the crystal actually gives off a soft chime, and flashes with soft blue light.]

[And then- nothing, for a moment. The crystal pulses faintly with yellow light once... twice... three times...]

[And then blinks red once with a defeated sounding chime before going dark once more.]

[If Meredith pulls her thumb back, she'll see the indentation blink the words NO SIGNAL in red letters a few times before that goes dark as well.]

[...ah. Her, too, little crystal. Her, too.

she pushes the dirt back into the hole and takes one more glance around before absconding with her prize.]
